Athens Borough Police Department - Athens, Pennsylvania

The Athens Borough Police Department - one of the oldest police departments in Bradford County, Pennsylvania - traces its roots back to 1831 when the Borough of Athens was first incorporated. The department is somewhat distinct from most other police departments of similar age in that it has never had more than seven full-time police officers on its roster at any given time throughout its 170-year history.

Although small in size, the department prides itself in delivering professional, progressive police services to the citizenry its members are sworn to serve. The department is also in step with the latest technology and methodology associated with the modern day delivery of community oriented police services as we enter the new millenium.

Furthermore, the department's officers diligently strive to enforce the laws of the Commonwealth in the most honest, unbiased, and ethical manner possible. They are not afraid to stand alone and do "what's right," even when doing so may not always be "cool" or popular. Simply put, they are police officers - principled public servants who have undertaken oaths to serve and protect our citizens and enforce the laws of our land. Such views may sound old fashioned or even naïve, given the circumstances of today's world. However, the men and women of this organization don't just "talk the talk," they indeed "walk the walk" when it comes to upholding these values. After all, this is what integrity is really all about.

We here at the Athens Borough Police Department are proud of our history and what we collectively stand for. Welcome to our web site. I hope you find it both interesting and enjoyable. And thank you for your interest in the Athens Borough Police Department.

Respectfully yours,

Chief Chris Hutchinson
